We have already pledged $50,000 for this incredible project and we are seeking donations to match it!
Building upon guidance from clinical leaders and program development discussions, the initiative is designed to improve institutional understanding of patients who are neurodivergent and enhance care delivery across the enterprise.
This program ensures that from the moment a child with special needs enters any Phoenix Children’s location whether the ED, a clinic, or urgent care—every interaction with staff is supported by neurodiversity-informed training until the child leaves campus. The program originated from the national Supporting Access to Everyone framework, developed by leading experts including a principal author in Boston. Phoenix Children’s is positioned to become the first institution to implement this as an enterprise-wide initiative, whereas other organizations have applied it only at division or unit levels.
Program Elements (Year 1)
The initiative strengthens staff education, caregiver support, and early access to care through the following components:
• Training & Education Modules for clinical and non-clinical staff
• Community and Caregiver-Facing Education resources
• Group Sessions for patients, families, and caregivers
• SAFE Initiative & BERT Training (internal and external)
• Early Access to Care Strategies
• FLC (PCP) Engagement and TrainingPhoenix Children’s Hospital Supporting Sensational Children’s Initiative
